A auto insurance policy is there to provide you peace of mind and cover in the event of an accident or damage occurring to your vehicle and therefore against the potentially high cost that such damage could incur. It is illegal to drive a car without a valid car insurance policy and if you are found to be doing so then you are more then likely to face a hefty fine or even a jail sentence, so it is really not worth the risk. There are so many companies that can offer you a car insurance quote in England, Scotland and Wales and it can often seem like a daunting and impossible task attempting to find the best deal for you, as the quotes can vary immensely from one company to the next.

Many will now offer you specialised cheaper car insurance aimed at certain sectors of the market, for example if you are over a certain age or if you are female and falling into any of these categories can be a great way of helping to keep the cost of your car insurance down. The type of car that you own and require insurance for is also a major factor in determining the cost of your insurance, as the majority of insurance companies place the car into specified price brackets which are dependent upon the size and how powerful the engine in your car is. It is therefore a good idea when purchasing a new car to not exceed your budget too much if you cannot then afford the insurance when you come to purchase it.

The first thing to consider is who is likely to be driving the vehicle and which type of events you wish to be covered for. There are three main categories of car insurance that are currently available and the one that you ultimately pick is dependent upon your own circumstances. These are Third Party only, Third Party Fire and Theft and Comprehensive.

Third Party offers you cover should damage incur to the third party's vehicle or to the third party. If you have an accident that involves another car and results in damage to that car or injures the occupant of that car, then this policy will pay for the repair to the vehicle and any medical claims made by persons of the other car and any passengers in that may have been in your car, this does however exclude yourself. A Third Party only policy does not however pay for the costs of repairing your own vehicle or any medical expenses if you are injured. It is also worth noting that should your vehicle be stolen or if it catches fire then a Third Party only policy will not pay towards repair.

Third Party Fire and Theft Car Insurance Cover provides the same cover as for a Third Party only policy; however Third Party Fire and Theft policy will also pay should your vehicle be either stolen or if it is somehow set on fire.

A comprehensive policy on the other hand will pay-out for third party damages and injuries, will pay-out in the event of your vehicle being stolen or catching fire, and will also pay for damage to your own vehicle and is not dependent upon which party was at fault. Ultimately, you should opt for whichever car insurance quote suits you best.
